We have just had a brilliant first rehearsal for the hilarious musical BETTY BLUE EYES with music from George Stiles and Anthony Drewe (The Wind in the Willows, Mary Poppins, Half A Sixpence) and we already absolutely love this show. Based on Alan Bennett’s ‘A Private Function’ it is full of wit, love and some very apt commentary on austerity in post-war Britain!
If you would like to join us on stage or backstage for Betty Blue Eyes then we would love to have you! Come along on Tuesday 13 December at 7.45pm to the music block of Newstead Wood School, Avebury Road, Orpington to hear more about the show, sing some songs and learn about prinicpal role auditions!
There is no audition to be a chorus member of PWOS, and we would love everyone who wants to join us for Betty Blue Eyes to do so!
Auditions for principal roles will take place in January and you must be an annual member of PWOS (£25 or £12.50 for students) to audition.
Rehearsals will take place on Tuesdays and some Thursday evenings from 7.45 – 10pm
Betty Blue Eyes will be performed at The Stag Theatre, Sevenoaks from 11 – 13 May 2017

Meanwhile, Adelaide, night club performer and long suffering fiancée of Nathan Detroit is losing her patience after a 14 year engagement which is proving bad for her health. With just over a month to go until the opening night of Little Shop of Horrors, our rehearsals are getting intense! Some of our cast were also lucky enough to visit Flowers & Sparkle Florists in Sevenoaks, and they felt quite at home amongst the bright blooms of this beautiful shop! We didn’t manage to spot the elusive Audrey Two during our visit, but we’re sure she’ll make an appearance at The Stag Theatre in November, so don’t miss it!
Tickets are now selling fast for the show so make sure you pick yours up soon, we’d love to see you in the audience for this cult comedy musical classic featuring songs from Academy Award winner Alan Menken (Aladdin, Sister Act, The Little Mermaid).

We are thrilled to be starting work on our next production, the classic Gilbert and Sullivan show, Iolanthe! Coming to The Stag Theatre, Sevenoaks 27th – 29th November 2014!

Scandal in Parliament (nothing new there then). It’s the swinging 1960s and Strephon Ward a common garden park keeper, has been dragged down into a scandal. His beautiful girlfriend Phyllis, a deck chair attendant, is being courted by half the House of Lords. Even the Lord Chancellor is captivated by her charms. What no one knows is, Strephon is half a fairy and his mother, Iolanthe, (recently pardoned by the Fairy Queen for marrying a mortal 25 years earlier) all her sisters and aunts never grow old. Then double scandal he is discovered comforting a very young looking girl who is his mother in reality and his dreams of happiness are shattered.
Join Petts Wood Operatic Society for a new ‘Twist’ and ‘Shout’ on a G&S Classic with all the original music and words but a production based on the ‘Profumo affair’ with Mary Quant inspired fairies, sharp suited lords and a Lord Chancellor with a magic teddy bear.
