Our 80th Anniversary Production

Petts Wood Operatic Society is thrilled to present GUYS AND DOLLS as its 80th Anniversary show in 2016. The Street Singer was the society’s first production in the spring of 1936. Now, 80 years on and with a bigger and more vibrant membership than ever, PWOS is delighted to bring GUYS AND DOLLS to The Stag Theatre, Sevenoaks

GUYS AND DOLLS is the classic American musical, featuring the brilliant Luck Be A Lady, Sit Down You’re Rockin’ The Boat and Sue Me.

Bad boy gambler Sky Masterson takes on a bet to woo the straight laced Miss Sarah Brown, all for the sake of a dice game. Can Sky get Sarah to fall for him, all without falling for her himself? Meanwhile, Adelaide, night club performer and long suffering fiancée of Nathan Detroit is losing her patience after a 14 year engagement which is proving bad for her health. Will Nathan ever give up the thrill of gambling and settle down with Adelaide?

A romantic comedy set against the staggering Manhattan skyline, GUYS AND DOLLS is a musical that will leave you tapping your toes and singing along as you leave the theatre!

With just over a month to go until the opening night of Little Shop of Horrors, our rehearsals are getting intense! Some of our cast were also lucky enough to visit Flowers & Sparkle Florists in Sevenoaks, and they felt quite at home amongst the bright blooms of this beautiful shop! We didn’t manage to spot the elusive Audrey Two during our visit, but we’re sure she’ll make an appearance at The Stag Theatre in November, so don’t miss it!

Little Shop of Horrors: The Rehearsals

We all made the most of our long summer break, and enjoyed the few weeks of sunshine that the South East had to offer! We brushed up on our song lyrics, and tried to remember our harmonies so that on 1st September at 7:30pm, our first floor rehearsal could kick off with a bang!

We’ll be working hard for the next couple of months on Little Shop of Horrors, putting together a show full of amazing songs, fabulous dances and of course, theatreland’s most bloodthirsty plant! We’d love you to come along to the show, which will be performed at The Stag Theatre, Sevenoaks from 19th – 21st November 2015. Buy tickets HERE!

Iolanthe!

We are thrilled to be starting work on our next production, the classic Gilbert and Sullivan show, Iolanthe! Coming to The Stag Theatre, Sevenoaks 27th – 29th November 2014!

Directed by Clive Bebee with Musical Direction from Daniel Beach.

Scandal in Parliament (nothing new there then).  It’s the swinging 1960s and Strephon Ward a common garden park keeper, has been dragged down into a scandal.  His beautiful girlfriend Phyllis, a deck chair attendant, is being courted by half the House of Lords. Even the Lord Chancellor is captivated by her charms. What no one knows is, Strephon is half a fairy and his mother, Iolanthe, (recently pardoned by the Fairy Queen for marrying a mortal 25 years earlier) all her sisters and aunts never grow old. Then double scandal he is discovered comforting a very young looking girl who is his mother in reality and his dreams of happiness are shattered.

Join Petts Wood Operatic Society for a new ‘Twist’ and ‘Shout’ on a G&S Classic with all the original music and words but a production based on the ‘Profumo affair’ with Mary Quant inspired fairies, sharp suited lords and a Lord Chancellor with a magic teddy bear.

First rehearsals (open to all): 24th June at 7:45pm and 1st July at 8:15pm at Newstead Wood School, Avebury Road, Orpington. Follow the signs for Bromley Tennis Centre and you will see our rehearsal room (the music block) on your right. There is plenty of parking available just outside.
